Philosophy

Green Building Architects specialize in buildings that respect the environment as much as they are comfortable to live in. We strive to reduce the impacts of construction while creating a beautiful home that is energy efficient and easier to maintain. Whether it is a new home on rural property or a rehabilitation of an historic home downtown, we work with you to create an enduring place to live and work.

Building Green

The term “green building” has been pirated for many uses that have little to do with sustainability. We were early adopters of sustainable design and were one of the first to be Certified as Green Building Professionals through Build It Green. Bill Wolpert’s architectural education at Cal Poly was primarily focused on passive solar design that is finally coming back into the mainstream. Starting with proper orientation and sun control, buildings with a well-insulated “shell” are far more comfortable before mechanical systems are required and less expensive to operate.

Our Mission

Our purpose is to conserve energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, conserve natural resources and minimize waste, create healthy indoor environments and minimize toxic construction materials. We especially want the result to be durable and beautiful and look like it belongs in the environment.

A construction project is a serious undertaking, whether it is an addition, a rehabilitation, or a new home. Communication is the key to a successful project and we strive to be collaborative. We listen to your ideas and help you prioritize them. We help you determine an appropriate budget. With more than 30 years of architectural experience, we have things to share.
